Best Fall E‑Bike Rides Near Denver

A man riding a blue Aventon in fall foliage.

Fresh gold aspens, cool temps, lower UV. Here are our favorite routes for eBikes.

Cherry Creek State Park

Flat to gently rolling paved path around the reservoir with long shoreline views and abundant fall birds. The park has 35 miles of trails, including about 15 miles paved, so it is easy to extend. Park entry fee required if you arrive in a car.

Starting Point: Cherry Creek State Park Marina lot or West Entrance day‑use lots
Distance: 8.5 to 9 mile reservoir loop, or 15 to 25 miles if you stitch together connectors; elevation gain 300–600 feet
Battery: 10ah or higher
Difficulty: Easy

South Platte River Trail to Chatfield Reservoir

A signature Denver river ride. Follow the greenway past murals, parks, and neighborhoods to the wide‑open water at Chatfield. Pavement the entire way with frequent services along the route. This ride goes right by  eBikes USA. Please stop by and say hi!

Lookout Mountain (road climb)

Denver’s rite‑of‑passage climb. Steady 5 to 6 percent grades, big views of Golden and the plains, with optional add‑ons near the Nature Center and Boettcher Mansion at the top.

Apex Park (eMTB singletrack)

Front Range classic with flowy to rocky singletrack and shady canyons. Class 1 e‑bikes are allowed on natural‑surface trails in Jeffco Open Space. Know the even/odd calendar: bikes only on certain trails even‑numbered days, no bikes on those specific trails odd‑numbered days. Signs at the trailhead explain it. Limited to Class 1 eMTBs.
Starting Point: Apex Trailhead, 121 CO‑93, Golden
Distance: 6 to 10 miles on loops such as Apex–Pick N’ Sledge–Grubstake (about 9 miles, 1,600 feet gain)

Maroon Bells

One of the most beautiful fall road rides in the Rockies. During the day the road is reserved for shuttle buses and bikes, which keeps traffic low. The surrounding Maroon Bells–Snowmass Wilderness prohibits mountain biking; you are riding the paved road only.

Starting Point: Aspen Highlands parking area
Distance: 16.2 miles round trip, 1,300 feet gain
Battery: 14ah or higher
Difficulty: Moderate to Hard

Pikes Peak Highway

A true bucket-list ascent on a fully paved road of hairpins and alpine views. Cyclists pay the same tolls as vehicles. Check the daily weather and wind forecast before committing.
